Biomass recovery

In the biomass recovery process, the following may be distinguished:

  • Bioenergies (biofuels) that may be used as a substitute for fuels of fossil origin, or to produce heat and electricity,
  • Bioproducts, under which agro-materials (biopolymers, fibres, building materials…) and products resulting from “plant chemistry” (surfactants, lubricants, solvents) are listed.

Note: One ton of equivalent oil is worth 41.8 109 J, or 41,8 GJ.
